Quadcross / Round 5 / Glen Helen / July 11 2010
Round 5 of the ITP Quadcross brought us to Glen Helen for the second time this season.

It was another round of excitement and great times at the track for this race. The first thing I noticed when I looked at the track was that there were actually jumps! There was a section right in front with a good sized table followed by a double leading into a inside/outside corner.
Following that was a whoop/rhythm section with a jump down to the Talledega turn.
Saturday, the track was open for practice and the track was as fun to ride as it looked! The main section was a smooth but challenging one which made it all that more exciting! Unfortunately, early in the day on Saturday practice I was hit by an inexperienced rider causing me to crash on the smaller downhill section. After getting back to the pits I was advised by a medic I should go to the hospital and have some X-Rays due to the massive swelling. The good news was it wasn't broken so I was able to race the following day. The bad news was the days practice was done. Sunday I was a little sore, but never to sore to skip out on some good racing action!
For moto 1, the track was still the same as Saturday practice, but they did add the step up section in the back, back into the loop again. My start was another good one! I cam out of the first corner in 4th or 5th place, but luck wasn't on my side as my throttle loosened up, allowing it to spin freely, on the first jump of the first lap. The rest of the race was not to special, I was just doing the best I could while having to constantly twist the throttle back to a position where I could reach it.
By the time the second moto came around my arm was a little more sore, but once again I was determined to go out there and ride again! The track was a little more beat up then the first moto, but still some of the best shape I have ever seen Glen Helen in after this much racing! My start wasn't as good as the first moto, but I wasn't in last! I held that position all the way around the track until the step-up on the other side of the track. At that point I paced the rider in front of me, being I have never hit this jump before, and I cased it hard leaving me with a throbbing arm and a broken subframe on the first lap of the race. I still raced with everything I had and came home this weekend feeling great that I was able to race this round even after my accident on Saturday. I cant wait for round 6!
